MANIPULATION UNDER ANESTHESIA

Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) is a safe and effective technique used to restore normal range of motion and soft tissue movement while the patient is under general anesthesia. After an injury, fibrosis depositions are part of the normal healing process. These fibrotic deposits can lead to scarring, which can cause permanent losses in range of motion and functionality. By placing  a qualified patient under anesthesia, the normal muscular guarding reflex is diminished, and the practitioner can stretch and manipulate the joint to its fullest, restoring their normal range.

After completing an in-office rehabilitation program, the patient is allowed the opportunity to return to their normal lives with marked reductions in pain and vast improvements in quality life.

The MUA procedure is performed at an outpatient surgery center and utilizes a multidisciplinary approach for the best possible outcome for the patient. We are highly trained professionals who are experienced with the procedure. Our MUA team includes Board Certified Anesthesiologists, who constantly monitors the patient while the procedure is being performer
