MANIPULATION UNDER ANESTHESIA (MUA)

MUA is a safe and effective technique used to restore normal range of motion and soft tissue movement while the patient is under general anesthesia.

After an injury, fibrous deposits (scar tissue) are part of the normal healing process. These fibrotic deposits can lead to scarring, which can cause permanent loss in range of motion and functionality. By placing a qualified patient under anesthesia, the normal muscular guarding reflex is diminished, the practitioner can stretch and manipulate the joint to its fullest, restoring their normal range.

The MUA procedure is performed at an outpatient surgery center, utilizing multidisciplinary approach for the best possible outcome for the patient. We are highly trained professionals who are experienced with the procedure. Our MUA team includes board certified anesthesiologists, who constantly monitor the patient while the procedure is being performed.
